TESTIMONIALS
"Christina Dzenyuy from Chase Your Dreams Wearing Sneakers: The Musical, engaged the Harlem Link fifth graders in a highly interactive anti bullying theater exercise. The students were thrilled by the different characters Christina depicted, whom they could relate to. Everyone found a song, saying, and/or dance that resonated with them. The fifth graders especially enjoyed being able to practice their anti bullying skills through skits. This was an amazing opportunity to foster growth in student’s ability to make socially responsible decisions and develop positive social skills, that will set them up for success in the future."

"I think it was outstanding! Our students got an opportunity to learn a lot and they interacted. It was very good, the message was clear and the performance was outstanding. I would encourage any school or any organization that works with young people to purchase this opportunity so that they can learn and be inspired by this outstanding performance."
-Doug McCrory, Interim Assistant Principal, Great Path Academy
"Christina has an inspiring message and an infectiously positive attitude! She engaged our students from the beginning of her performance and spread a wonderful message of respect, cooperation and following your dreams regardless of what you're up against. Christina's creative and artistic interpretation of continuing to pursue her own dreams in the face of adversity fit right in with our study of character and doing the right thing. We loved having Christina at our school and you will, too!"

"I'm actually working with Capital Workforce Partners and what I do, in relation to the show that we had today, is work with youth from the school success centers from the public high schools in Hartford. They are over-age and under-credited. This is their summer enrichment program workshop. We made this workshop a part of their overall summer enrichment programming. The play was great, it was very engaging and interactive and I think the students got a lot in terms of thinking about their goals and what they should be doing now to prepare for their future, which is what the whole theme of this summer is, making transitions. We recommend this program to other organizations. It definitely benefited our students!"

In her Chase Your Dreams Wearing Sneakers performance, Christina instantly grabbed our students’ attention with her vocal talent. Then, to our students’ delight, she turned the stage over to them. The skits they performed dealt with relatable scenarios and concrete strategies for standing up to bullies. Two aspects of Breakthrough Magnet’s School character education curriculum is the responsibility for mastering one’s own self-talk and turning breakdowns into breakthroughs. The main character Chrissy overcomes her fears and various set-backs in the musical, which led to rich post-performance discussions of the musical as it related to our school’s curriculum. The facts that they musical is based loosely on Christina’s own experiences, made it even more inspiring to our students.
